The strongest gusts will occur along the higher ridges, particularly northwest North Carolina into bordering extreme southwest Virginia. * WHERE...Portions of southwest Virginia, northwest North Carolina and southeast West Virginia. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact local travel. Strong winds could cause tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as 5 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

In North Carolina, Ashe and Watauga Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Blowing snow may make for white out conditions on area roadways. Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution.
