Forecast Discussion

Our bumpy ride through Spring continues. We are in the middle of extended "yuck", but summer-like weather returns early next week.

High pressure centered in New England is holding a warm front to our south. A weak wedge of cool, moist air persists. We have continued clouds this evening with areas of fog, especially along the eastern escarpment (the "Blue Ridge"). Stray drizzle or sprinkles are likely, but light rain develops this evening near the Blue Ridge and spreads west and north as it increases overnight.

A front from the west arrives Friday night. That's slower than we thought a couple days ago. Thursday is cloudy with rain. Rain will be heavy at times Thursday night, and rain continues into Friday morning.

After the front moves through, an upper-level low moves slowly from the Ohio Valley to New Jersey Friday and Saturday. That keeps us in a cool, moist northwest flow. Showers remain possible Friday afternoon and Friday night. Even during the daytime Saturday, clouds will be stubborn and a stray shower cannot be ruled out. High pressure FINALLY takes over our weather Sunday. Clouds decrease Saturday night. Sunday and Memorial Day are mostly sunny, dry and warmer. Pleasant weather continues into Tuesday with scattered clouds.
