Avery Co. YO! - 2nd Annual Community Day

The Avery Co. YO! After School Program is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Community Day on Sat. 3/27/10 from 11:00 to 3:00 at the Old Cranberry High School.

Landscape Educational Workshop

On Friday, March 19th there will be a landscape educational workshop sponsored by both Avery and Watauga County Cooperative Extension Centers, and by the Western North Carolina Horticulture Association. This meeting is to provide educational opportunities to the Landscape professional in the mountain region. Educational topics include calibration, finance management, Business planning, Diseases on Ornamentals in the Landscape, How to correct someone else's installation mistake, and accounting 101. It has been approved for 1 hour of pesticide credit for A,B,G,H,I,K,M,O,T and 2 hours for L,N,D,X. There is a maximum of 75 participants.

4-H Youth Gardening Workshop

Explore the wonders of plants and gardens! In this workshop we will start a Tickle-Me plant. Attendees and parents will also receive inspiration, resources and ideas for planting a garden at home. Not Just a Number - Diabetes Health Fair

Diabetes is a chronic disease that has the potential to cause serious complications such as blindness, kidney damage, cardiovascular disease, and lower limb amputation; however, diabetes is manageable and people with diabetes can lower the occurence of these and other diabetes complications by controlling blood glucose, blood pressure, and blood lipids. In an effort to raise awareness about the seriousness of diabetes, the CCCTI Nursing I students will be hosting a diabetes health fair on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Boone Mall from 9:00AM to 3:00PM.
