...Flooding Possible During a Prolonged Heavy Rain Event... .Overnight through Wednesday, an area of low pressure will progress from the Middle Mississippi River Valley to the eastern Great Lakes region. On its eastern flanks, a very strong southeast flow will develop that will usher very moist air into the region off the Atlantic Ocean. This moisture will travel upslope across the area with moderate to heavy rain expected, maximized along and near the crest of the Blue Ridge. In this region, rainfall totals of three to four inches area expected. ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON... The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flood Watch for those counties along the crest of the Blue Ridge form Floyd County southwest to Watauga County, including the areas downstream in Patrick, Surry, and Wilkes Counties. * From Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon * Prolonged heavy rainfall totaling three to four inches. * Flooding of small streams and creeks and small rivers.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Monday night. * Locations...North Carolina High Country, Grayson Highlands into the higher terrain of Tazewell and Smyth County, Virginia, including Burkes Garden. * Hazards...Strong southeast winds. * Winds...Southeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Timing...Late tonight through Monday evening. * Impacts...These winds could down smaller trees and limbs. Isolated power outages are possible. High profile vehicles will find it difficult to maneuver at times.
