On its eastern flanks, a very strong southeast flow will develop that will usher very moist air into the region off the Atlantic Ocean. This moisture will travel upslope across the area with moderate to heavy rain expected, maximized along and near the crest of the Blue Ridge. In this region, rainfall totals of three to four inches area expected. ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON... The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a * Flood Watch for those counties along the crest of the Blue Ridge form Floyd County southwest to Watauga County, including the areas downstream in Patrick, Surry, and Wilkes Counties. * From Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon * Prolonged heavy rainfall totaling three to four inches. * Flooding of small streams and creeks and small rivers.
