Forecast Last Updated at Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 6:26PM

Good End to the Weekend

Most of the showers and thundershowers this evening will remain near the TN border.

Tomorrow will see a little more coverage of afternoon showers and thunderstorms and it won't be quite as warm. Tuesday and Wednesday look to be fantastic weather days with lots of sunshine, no chances of rain and warm temperatures. We get back into the summerlike warmth late in the week with our old friend afternoon showers and thundershowers back in the picture.

The 2020 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar Photo Contest is underway. Come on... "hit us with your best shot" from America's Scenic Parkway!

Forecast Discussion

The cold front to our west will continue a steady march toward us and move through Monday evening. The closer the front gets, the better the chances of rain and thunderstorms will get. Today we'll see a few storms in the afternoon and there should be a greater coverage tomorrow afternoon. Both days will see above average temperatures.

High pressure with slightly cooler and drier air will control our weather for Tuesday and Wednesday and those look to be fantastic weather days. The summerlike warmth begins to return Thursday as high pressure shifts to our southeast. We will see above average temperatures late in the week into next weekend. With summertime warmth and humidity come the chances for afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
