Forecast Last Updated at Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 7:51PM

Winds Of Change

After a couple morning showers, skies partially cleared during the afternoon. Under partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight, a much colder air mass invades on strong, northwesterly winds. After midnight, there could be a few snow flurries, particularly at higher elevations along the TN line. It’s just a novelty thing with no accumulations, but it’s good “mood music” for our RaysWeather.Com Fearless Forecast for Winter 2018-2019, which was released yesterday. Sunday will be sunny and chilly, and we expect a frost/freeze by daybreak Monday.

It's a busy Fall festival weekend around the region and the weather struggles to cooperate. Here's an hourly forecast for both Woolly Worm Festival and Valle Country Fair.

The 2019 Blue Ridge Parkway Calendar is in stock featuring winners from our yearly photo contest. Get your at RaysMarketplace.Com, or from one of the many local retailers. This year's feature is Waterfalls along the Parkway. Enjoy!

Forecast Discussion

A cold front blasted through today. Rainfall of any consequence was confined mostly to the morning hours. Colder air invades tonight, with a few token snowflakes possible after midnight. A “windy freeze” will be a good bet for most of the High Country above about 3,000 feet in elevation.

Sunday will bright, sunny, but chilly. With Canadian high pressure building strongly overhead Sunday night, winds will go calm and we expect a frosty freeze for daybreak Monday.

Tuesday through Thursday will be dry, quiet with temperatures hovering fairly close to normal. By the end of next week, we’ll be tracking the progress of low-pressure in the northern Gulf of Mexico to see what kind of wet-weather impacts that might have on the local area, if any.
