Improvements Wednesday On Out

Showers and storms have moved east paving the way for a calm, yet foggy night in places. Tomorrow we get into our "official" summertime pattern. You know the one, "partly cloudy, warm, with a few afternoon showers". Yes, we have used a similar expression a time or ten already this season, but THIS is the real deal! After today's wet weather, late afternoon and evening pop-up showers or thundershowers will plague the daily forecast for a while. Nothing real organized, just good ole' summer garden variety stuff. Astronomical summer begins Friday with a fitting forecast, "Partly sunny; PM thunder possible".

Hi: 72 Lo: 58

Mostly cloudy tonight; Patchy fog; Light NW wind
Wednesday

Thursday

Hi: 75 Lo: 56

Partly sunny; A few pop-up PM thundershowers around; SE wind 5-10 mph
Friday

Hi: 76 Lo: 57

Partly sunny; PM thunder possible
Saturday

Hi: 77 Lo: 58

A good deal of sunshine; Risk for a PM thundershower

Further Out

Sunday - Partly sunny with isolated to scattered showers or t-showers; High in the upper 70s; Low near 60 degrees
Monday - Partly sunny with isolated to scattered showers or t-showers; High in the upper 70s; Low near 60 degrees

Forecast Discussion

We are not in the clear, but we are in the clear. Wet weather has moved south and east allowing us to dry out overnight. Patchy fog will be a problem for areas that muster up some decent breaks in the clouds. Sunshine makes a triumphant return Wednesday.

There is no point to make a mountain out of a mole hill with the forecast in the coming days. A typical early summer pattern is the story through the weekend. This consists of partly cloudy to mostly cloudy days (more clouds in the PM) with at least isolated to scattered showers or thundershowers. Without help from an approaching front or upper level impulses shower development will be aided by healthy moisture in the atmosphere, daytime heating, and/or upslope wind flow in the mountains. It is a type of pattern where late day showers are more prone to the mountains and not so much down the hill. We are special!

Tropical Depression number two is on the board over northern Guatemala and eastern Mexico today. There is a small chance this storm becomes the second named storm of the season with intensification possible as it moves slightly offshore in the next day. Barry would be the name.
