Forecast Discussion

Monday looks like our last really mild day ahead of a strong, polar front that will be pressing eastward from the Tennessee Valley region. A stray shower is possible, mainly during the afternoon and increasing Monday night.

A more solid rain area arrives with the front on Tuesday and it will turn noticeably cooler as the front inches into the Piedmont. A wave of low-pressure will likely develop along the front, impeding its forward progress. Most of the rain will be done by Wednesday morning, but we’ll hang onto a couple showers until the wave gets past us.

The rest of the period looks uneventful and fall-like. A reinforcing dry front comes through on Thursday, so it will be briefly milder, followed by much cooler for Friday through next weekend. Looking ahead, patchy frost looks like a real possibility Saturday and Sunday mornings.
