A Few Showers & Breezy, Then Clearing

An area of low pressure moves into Eastern Virginia this evening along the cold front that pushed through the region this morning. Occasional rain tapers to stray light showers this evening. Winds remain gusty overnight as clearing ensues. As the colder air invaded today, our high temperatures occurred this morning and the mercury dropped from there. Wednesday has more sun, but temperatures will be 6-8 degrees cooler than average. A second front arrives Thursday with a stray light shower possible late-day followed by even cooler temperatures.

Forecast Discussion

Your efforts to dig out sweaters and jackets a week ago will save some work this week. Sweaters and jackets become the norm this week.

Two fronts (one passed through early this morning, another will move through Thursday) usher in cooler than average weather for the rest of this week and into early next week.

Low pressure moves into eastern Virginia this evening along the cold front that swept through the High Country this morning. We have clouds with occasional rain tapering to stray light showers this evening.

Wednesday has scattered clouds and temperatures 6-8 degrees below seasonal averages. The second front passing through brings the slight chance of a passing shower Thursday afternoon and evening.

Friday and Saturday, cool high pressure dominates the Eastern U. S. We'll have lots of sun, much cooler than average temperatures, and the potential for valley frost Friday night.

This weekend, low pressure will be in the Eastern Gulf and a second low develops off the Carolina Coast. Additionally, the next front from the northwest moves through early Monday. It appears we'll escape the rain except for a stray shower possible Monday. Temperatures will return to seasonal averages next week.
